Kim founded Sionna in 2002 and has more than 35 years of industry experience. She is the president and co-chief investment officer at Sionna, and was previously chief investment officer and senior vice president at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Canada. Kim serves as a board member with the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance and is the Chair of its Governance Committee. She is also on the board for the Brandes Institute, the Ontario Arts Foundation, United Corporation (a listed closed-end fund), a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s National Council and the CFA Institute Board of Regents (she previously served as its chair). Kim is also a past president of the CFA Society Toronto. She was awarded Morningstar Fund Manager of the Year (2005), the RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Award, the Women’s Executive Network’s Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award (2007, 2017), continuously listed as one of Profit Magazine’s Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs over the last several years and a recipient of the 2015 Rotman Women in Management Association Top 10 Awards (Entrepreneur Category).
Teresa is the co-chief investment officer at Sionna, and is also the lead portfolio manager for the firm’s Canadian small-cap strategy and Canadian all-cap strategy. Prior to joining Sionna in 2003, Teresa worked at the Jim Pattison Group and Royal & Sun Alliance. Teresa earned her bachelor of commerce with honours from the University of British Columbia and is a CFA® charterholder. She is a member of CFA Society Toronto and is a member of Casey House’s Investment Committee.
Mel joined Sionna in 2005 and is a portfolio manager. He is lead portfolio manager for the firm’s high conviction strategy. Prior to joining Sionna, he spent two years at RBC Dominion Securities as an associate program manager. Mel earned his bachelor of science in microbiology and immunology from McGill University and is a CFA® charterholder. He is a member of CFA Society Toronto and is a member of Casey House's Investment Committee.
Marian joined Sionna in 2004 and is a portfolio manager. She is the lead portfolio manager for the firm’s Canadian large-cap strategy and co-lead portfolio manager for the firm’s focused dividend strategy. Marian earned her bachelor of arts in economics from Yale University and is a CFA® charterholder. She is a member of CFA Society Toronto and serves on CFA Society Toronto Awards and University Relations Committee.
Dave joined Sionna in 2006 and is a portfolio manager. He earned his bachelor of business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he graduated with distinction, and his MBA from the Rotman School of Management. Dave is a CFA® charterholder and a member of CFA Society Toronto. He serves on the Accounting Standards Board User Advisory Council.
Marlena joined Sionna in 2012 and is a portfolio manager. She is the co-lead portfolio manager for the firm’s focused dividend strategy. Prior to joining Sionna, she spent one year in the Financial Management Program at General Electric. Marlena earned her honors business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Marlena is a CFA® charterholder and a member of CFA Society Toronto.
Gary joined Sionna as an equity research analyst in January 2014. Prior to joining Sionna, he was a generalist at RBC Wealth Management and worked at RBC Capital Markets and Deloitte Consulting. Gary earned his MBA from the Rotman School of Management and both his honors business administration and bachelor of engineering science from the University of Western Ontario. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of CFA Society Toronto.
Jackie is an associate portfolio manager. He joined Sionna as an equity research analyst in 2013 following a summer internship in 2012. He earned his bachelor of commerce with a major in finance from the University of British Columbia. Jackie has completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Derivatives Fundamentals Course. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of CFA Society Toronto.
Jing joined Sionna in 2018, as an equity research analyst. He earned his bachelor of commerce degree with honors at the University of Toronto. Jing was the head of education at one of the university’s investment clubs where he taught value investing, valuation and accounting before serving as VP of research. Prior to joining Sionna, Jing was a summer research analyst for Evans Investment Counsel and a summer intern at Caldwell Investment Management. Jing has successfully passed Level I of the CFA Program.
Daniel joined Sionna as an equity research analyst in 2016. He earned his honours bachelor of commerce from Queen’s University, where he served as a portfolio manager for the Queen’s University Investment Counsel (QUIC). He also spent a semester studying at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Daniel has earned the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation and successfully passed Level I of the CFA Program.
