Kim founded Sionna in 2002 and has more than 30 years of industry experience. She was previously CIO and senior vice president at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Canada. Kim is a past president of the CFA Society Toronto and currently a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s National Council, the CFA Institute Board of Regents (previously served as its chair) and on the board of the Brandes Institute. Kim serves as a board member with the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance, the Women’s College Hospital Investment Committee and the United Corporation (a listed closed-end fund). She was awarded Morningstar Fund Manager of the Year (2005), the RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Award, the Women’s Executive Network’s Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award (2007), continuously listed as one of Profit Magazine’s Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs over the last several years and one recipient of the 2015 Rotman Women in Management Association Top 10 Awards (Entrepreneur Category).
Teresa is the Co-Chief Investment Officer at Sionna, and is also the lead portfolio manager for the firm’s small-cap strategy and some of Sionna's focused strategies. Prior to joining Sionna in 2003, Teresa spent one year with the Jim Pattison Group as a senior securities analyst, and seven years with Royal & Sun Alliance, where she managed the company's Canadian small-cap value fund. Teresa earned her bachelor of commerce with honours from the University of British Columbia and is a CFA® charterholder. She is a member of the CFA Society Toronto and sits on Casey House’s Investment Committee.
Mel joined Sionna in 2005 and is a portfolio manager. Prior to joining Sionna, he spent two years at RBC Dominion Securities as an associate program manager. Mel earned his bachelor of science in microbiology and immunology from McGill University and is a CFA® charterholder. He is a member of the CFA Society Toronto.
Marian joined Sionna in 2004 and is a portfolio manager. She is also the lead portfolio manager for the firm’s focused dividend strategy and large-cap strategy. Marian earned her bachelor of arts in economics from Yale University and is a CFA® charterholder. She is a member of the CFA Society Toronto and serves on the CFA Society Toronto Awards and University Relations Committee.
Dave joined Sionna in 2006 and is a portfolio manager. He earned his bachelor of business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he graduated with distinction, and his MBA from the Rotman School of Management. Dave is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Society Toronto.
Marlena joined Sionna in 2012 and is a portfolio manager. Prior to joining Sionna, she spent one year in the Financial Management Program at General Electric. Marlena earned her honors business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a CFA® charterholder.
Gary joined Sionna as an equity research analyst in 2014. Prior to joining Sionna, he was a generalist at RBC Wealth Management. Previously, he also worked with RBC Capital Markets and Deloitte. Gary earned his MBA from the Rotman School of Management and both his honors business administration and bachelor of engineering science from the University of Western Ontario and is a CFA® charterholder.
Jackie joined Sionna as an equity research analyst in 2013 after a summer internship the year prior. He earned his bachelor of commerce with a major in finance from the University of British Columbia. Jackie has completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Derivatives Fundamentals Course and is a CFA® charterholder.
Daniel joined Sionna in 2016, as an equity research analyst. He earned his honours bachelor of commerce from Queen’s University, where he served as a portfolio manager for the Queen’s University Investment Counsel (QUIC). He also spent a semester studying at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Prior to joining Sionna, he held internship positions at Greenhill & Co. and Gluskin Sheff + Associates. Daniel has earned the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation and is a 2017 Level II Candidate in the CFA Program. He has also earned the gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
