Paul Spagnolo, CFA CPA CA
President and Chief Operating Officer

Paul joined Sionna in 2013 and is Sionna's President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. Paul earned his Honours Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and is a CFA® charterholder and a Chartered Professional Accountant. He is a member of CFA Society Toronto and serves as a mentor in the CFA Mentorship Program. Paul is a member of the Portfolio Management Association of Canada and is a past Chair of its Operations Heads’ Network. Paul served his third consecutive two-year term on the Ontario Securities Commission’s Registrant Advisory Committee.

Katie Ophelders, CIM®
Head, Relationship Management & Marketing

Katie joined Sionna’s relationship management team in 2015 as Marketing Manager. Prior to joining Sionna, Katie was an Account Supervisor at a marketing and communications agency, primarily working with clients in the financial services industry. She earned her Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and after graduating, Katie spent several months volunteering at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and Paralympics. She holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation.

Claire Carter
Associate, Relationship Management

Claire joined Sionna in 2017 as a Coordinator on the relationship management team. Claire brings several years of experience in the industry, including trading operations positions at Northern Trust Bank and Toji Trading Group. Most recently, she was a member services consultant for a large trade association. Claire attended Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, with concentrations in finance and marketing and a minor in psychology.
