Kelly Battle, CFA, MBA
Vice President, Relationship Management

Kelly joined Sionna in 2012 as vice president, relationship management. Prior to joining Sionna, Kelly spent 14 years at Burgundy Asset Management, where she worked with institutional and private clients across Canada and the United States. Kelly earned her bachelor of arts from the University of Toronto and her MBA from the Rotman School of Management. She has completed the Institute of Corporate Directors’ Directors Education Program and has also studied in the executive programs at Harvard, Columbia and Northwestern. Kelly is a CFA® charterholder and a member of CFA Society Toronto. Kelly currently serves on the Board of Regents and is Chair of the Investment Committee of Victoria University at the University of Toronto. Kelly previously served on the boards of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Ontario Region, the ICD Corporate Governance College and the Hearing Foundation of Canada. In 2002, she was a recipient of the Arbor Award at the University of Toronto.

Simone Edwards, CFA
Director, Relationship Management

Simone joined Sionna in 2018 as director, relationship management. In this role she will be working with clients, prospects and consultants. She brings more than 20 years of experience working with institutional clients at both investment management firms and a large insurance company. She was also a consultant to both DB and DC clients at Aon Hewitt. Most recently she was director, institutional business development at Scotia Institutional Asset Management. Simone earned her bachelor of commerce degree in international business from Concordia University. She has completed courses through the Canadian Securities Institute, including the Canadian Securities Course and Derivatives Courses. She has also completed the Osgoode Certificate in Pension Law. Simone is a CFA® charterholder and a member of CFA Society Toronto. She is also a member of Women in Capital Markets.

Claire Carter
Coordinator, Relationship Management

Claire joined Sionna in 2017 as a coordinator on the relationship management team. Claire brings several years of experience in the industry, including trading operations positions at Northern Trust Bank and Toji Trading Group. Most recently she was a member services consultant for a large trade association. Claire attended Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, where she earned her bachelor of business administration, with concentrations in finance and marketing and a minor in psychology. Claire is a member of the Asset Management Marketing Association.

Katie Ophelders
Marketing Manager

Katie joined Sionna’s relationship management team in 2015 as marketing manager. Prior to joining Sionna, Katie was an account supervisor at H2 Central Marketing and Communications, primarily working with clients in the financial services industry. She earned her bachelor of commerce with honours degree from McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business. After graduating, Katie spent several months volunteering at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and Paralympics. Katie is currently working towards her Canadian Securities Course.
